Eyesynth es un sistema de comprensión visual para invidentes. Se compone de unas gafas que registran el espacio que nos rodea en 3 dimensiones. Un micro-ordenador procesa la información y la convierte en audio comprensible para el invidente. Nosotros lo llamamos “experiencia de sentido aumentado”.

Hay 3 características fundamentales en Eyesynth:

  1. Funciona en 3D. El usuario no sólo puede identificar formas y espacios: es capaz de medir la profundidad y localizar objetos con precisión.
  2. El sonido es abstracto, no se usan palabras. Es muy fácil de aprender. Se trata de un nuevo lenguaje que el cerebro puede automatizar.

Las gafas envían imágenes al microordenador y las procesa en tiempo real, por lo que el usuario obtiene una respuesta instantánea. El entorno es capturado y procesado en 3D. Esto significa que además tenemos información acerca de la profundidad. A continuación, el ordenador convierte toda esa información en una serie de sonidos que permiten interpretar espacios abiertos, formas y obstáculos.
